 Councilmember
Linda Parker was first elected to the City Council in 1999.
Linda is an
Okaloosa County native and a graduate of Crestview High
School. During her years of service on the Council, Linda
has devoted special attention to many issues including:
- Transportation
- Water Resources
- Economic Development
- Recreation
- Historic Preservation
Linda has been or is currently a city representative serving on the Okaloosa County Economic Development Council (as a member of the EDC’s Policy Board), Florida League of Cities,
Eglin Installation Growth Committee and Transportation
Sub-Committee, Northwest Florida League of Cities, and Okaloosa-Walton Transportation Planning Organization. Additionally, she has been or is currently a city liaison to the Joint Multi-Purpose Facility Committee, Crestview Historic Preservation Board, and the Main Street Crestview Association.
Linda is a member of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce (including it's Military Affairs, Ambassadors, and the Blackwater-Bluegrass-Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Committees), Board Member of the Old Spanish Trail Festival Society, Florida Women Elected to Municipal Government Organization, Silver Sands Republican Women Club, and the Woman's Club of Crestview.
Linda has previously been named "Woman of the Year",
"Youth Leader of the Year", and "Volunteer of the
Year and Civic Leader". She led the City of Crestview's
"Care Packages to Iraq" efforts (specifically to the local
653rd National Guard Unit) in 2004.
Linda has served on numerous organizations, committees, boards,
and volunteer groups. In her opinion, one of the most
rewarding, was being selected to serve as Honorary Commander of
the 33rd Fighter Wing 2004-2005, assigned to the 728th Air Control
Command. She also represented the 919th SOW of Duke Field
and the 2001 National Security Forum and attended the Air War
College.
Personal Information
Linda is
married to Bill Parker and they have three children, Ty,
Travis, and Traci, along with three grandchildren. The Parkers are members of the First
Baptist Church of Crestview.
