I scream. You scream. We all scream...

Ice cream scoops and packages are seen in a Crestview Library display.

America’s favorite frozen treat is the focus of a cool display currently at the Crestview Public Library through March. From cartons and root beer float mugs to just about everything else ice creamy, the library lobby is full of yummy memorabilia.

From the vast collections of residents Wanda and Mark Hulion comes a diverse array of ice cream-related serving dishes, vintage packages, signs, churns and almost 70 assorted scoops.

“Mark and I have had a lot of fun with it over the years,” Wanda, a retired Crestview Police officer and Historic Preservation Board member, said. “We are so glad people are enjoying it.”

Perhaps most fascinating is the broad variety of ice cream scoops. There are paddle scoops, aluminum scoops that make small ice cream balls, scoops that split in half after digging out a ball of ice cream to drop it into the cone or bowl, and the ones with the metal thingy that swoops around the inside of the scoop’s bowl when the handle is squeezed to loosen the ice cream and drop it into the serving vessel.

To savor this delicious exhibit, stop by the Crestview Public Library, 1445 Commerce Dr. (behind the post office) during regular Monday through Saturday opening hours. Visit www.cityofcrestview.org/178/Library or call 850.682.4432. The library is closed Sundaes. Er, make that Sundays.
